He discusses the changing center of the earth's gravity due to its uneven density. This analysis is largely based on Jean Buridan's question of "whether the world is always at rest at the center of the universe," as Aristotle had maintained. Leonardo's thinking developed in a unique direction, and he concludes that the natural processes of the elevation and depression of land are analogous to the geometric transformation of one shape into another of equal volume.
